Paula McCollum

Estimating Department – Marceline, Missouri

At Walsworth, I’m the pricing analyst for the estimating department at Marceline. I take care of updating the price lists and the Excel estimation tool that we use. I work with Fulton renewals and report weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. I also review and assign Fulton quotes to estimators and have worked on government sales quotes. I often work with sales to see what it would take to match or beat competitors’ quotes for review by estimating managers. I work almost all day on a computer, mostly with figures and quotes, answering questions and working on reports.

What I love most about my job is I just get to work with my manager and colleagues to help customers as best I can. Every day something different happens and needs to be resolved to work best for the customer and the business. Each challenge helps my printing knowledge grow.

I been with Walsworth for 37 years! I started here in January 1985 in the collage department and have worked in several departments since, including layout, optics and office, and have helped throughout these years at the Marceline sud plant in the binding and cover departments. I worked in estimating and now I work as a pricing analyst.

My two older sisters worked here when I graduated from high school and had a few other jobs before I started here. I saw that my sisters had good jobs, so I decided to join them by working in Walsworth. Nothing in particular appealed to me in the printing industry, I just wanted a good place to work close to home.

If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “Always be nice” on most workdays. Life isn’t always kind and sometimes it leads us to not be on our best behavior.

I like coming to work every day because I enjoy being with colleagues and appreciate the support we give each other during difficult times in our lives.

I live myself and I have three dogs that take care of me. I have a daughter and a son-in-law who live nearby, and they have two children (I love being their grandmother), and I have a son and his girlfriend who live a long way from here who I don’t see as much, but I like when they are at home and I like going to see them.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy going to church, bowling, hot air ballooning and lounging by the pool. I like to spend time with my dogs, my children and my gr

andkids every chance i get.

I support the community chest each year and help deliver Christmas baskets with the Elks. I also help organize the Pershing Hot Air Balloon Derby and enjoy supporting local shops.

For me, Walsworth provided me the funds to have a roof over my head, a car and health insurance which I am very grateful for since I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2021. I had to undergo surgery and a radiotherapy and support from Walsworth while I was on leave meant that I didn’t have to worry about my job while I was away from work.

Walsworth has jobs available for anyone who wants to work and a person can make a career here if desired. I would say I am on my way with 37 years so far. They do things to help the communities of Marceline and Brookfield make improvements in the towns.
