We are continuing to investigate a fatal collision between a CTrain and a pedestrian that occurred yesterday morning.
At approximately 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, a CTrain was stopped in the southbound lanes of the 39 Avenue station. A 29-year-old pedestrian crossed the tracks between the train couplers, which connect the carriages, from the east platform to the west platform.
When the train began to move, the man became trapped between the moving train and the edge of the platform.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The train driver and passengers were not injured as a result of the collision, and Calgary Transit brought in buses to transport the train passengers.
The Calgary Police Department Traffic Section continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact police at the non-emergency number 403-266-1234.
