Hamilton Police continue to investigate a serious collision.
On Saturday, March 19, 2022, shortly before 2:00 a.m., the driver of a stolen 2004 Toyota Prius was traveling at high speed on Main Street East toward King Street East. This man lost control, ran onto the sidewalk and hit a concrete utility pole. During the collision, the vehicle struck three pedestrians and debris from the collision struck a fourth. When the vehicle came to a stop, it was engulfed in flames.
Paramedics, firefighters and police rushed to the scene and assisted those involved. As a result of this incident, four people succumbed to their injuries.
The Hamilton Police Department will not release any names of the parties involved as next of kin notifications are pending.
Impairment has not yet been ruled out as a factor in this incident.
