One dead after two-vehicle collision in White County | New
One person died Tuesday night in a collision between two vehicles near Remington in White County.
Indiana State Police and the Remington Police Department responded to calls of a crash on I-65 near the 196-mile marker just before midnight.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Toyota Sienna was traveling north on I-65 near the 196 mile marker. At the same time, a 2015 Volvo tractor-trailer, driven by Barrera Salgado, 48, of Berwyn, Illinois, was also traveling north in the left lane. The Toyota struck the trailer, entered the median and struck the cable barrier.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the Toyota was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a Lafayette area hospital and pronounced dead, despite rescue efforts.
Salgado was not injured in the crash.
State Troopers from the Lafayette station were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police crash reconstruction, police utility vehicle law enforcement division Indiana State Police, Remington Police Department, Wolcott Fire Department, Wolcott EMS, Tippecanoe County EMS, and Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
No further information has been released.
