One person died, two others injured after a head-on collision on the dike bypass | Idaho

LEWISTON – On Wednesday November 17, 2021 at around 4:15 p.m., Lewiston Police and Lewiston firefighters were dispatched to a reported head-on collision between two vehicles on the Levee bypass near the corner of Confluence.

The first officers to arrive found a 2002 BMW 525 on its side and a 2019 Honda Rav4 on its wheels, both on the north side of Levee Bypass in the westbound lane.

BMW driver Ryan Querciagrossa, 35, of Clarkston, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lewiston Police said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time. His passenger, Corey Fitzgerald, 30, of Asotin, was transported by ambulance to SJRMC with life-threatening injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

Toyota Rav4 driver Ryan Paris, 35, of Clarkston, was taken by ambulance to SJRMC with injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

An investigation by the Lewiston Police Major Collision Investigation Team found the BMW was heading east on the ring road when it failed to hold its lane while negotiating the curve near the confluence. The BMW crossed the double yellow line and struck the Westbound Toyota. According to the police, speed and alcohol are factors in this accident.

Levee Bypass was closed for approximately 4 hours for investigation.
