A pedestrian was seriously injured Monday night when he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross State Street in Santa Barbara, according to the City of Santa Barbara Fire Department.
The collision happened around 8:30 p.m. on State Street in Broadmoor Plaza, fire captain Jon Turner told Noozhawk.
The pedestrian was crossing State Street toward the mountains when he was struck by a sedan that witnesses said was traveling east at 40 to 45 mph, Turner said.
The impact propelled the pedestrian into the middle of the intersection.
The man, whose name was not available, suffered serious injuries and was taken away by Ambulance AMR for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Details on his condition were not available.
No information was available as to whether the driver had been cited or arrested.
The accident remained under investigation by the Santa Barbara Police Department.
