Person injured in collision between vehicle and bear on Highway 899 ::

BARNETT TWP., Pennsylvania (EYT) – One person was injured in a collision between a vehicle and a bear on State Route 899 on Saturday evening.

According to Marienville-based State Police, this accident happened Saturday, June 11 at approximately 11:08 p.m. on State Road 899, south of its intersection with Maple Creek Drive, in Barnett Township, Forest County.

Police say a 43-year-old man Dana J. Fogle, of Allegheny, New York, was traveling in the north lane of Route 899, and a bear entered the traffic lane from the east berm. His 2018 Nissan Rogue hit him with his front right.

Fogle was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries at the scene.

Clarion Hospital EMS transported the 43-year-old passenger from Fogle Heather A. Fronk, of Delevan, New York, at Kane Hospital for injuries of unknown severity. She was using a seat belt.

The vehicle sustained significant damage from the impact.

No additional information was provided about the bear.

The Marienville Volunteer Fire Department, Forest County Sheriff’s Office and Frank’s Towing also responded to the scene.
