Road collision leads to arrest of Dui

A woman was arrested by Rohnert Park police for impaired driving on Friday evening after crashing her vehicle into a traffic sign.

Police said a call was received at 9:38 p.m. Friday about a road collision involving a single vehicle against a traffic light pole at the intersection of Commerce Boulevard and Hunter Drive.

Officers arrived at the scene to find the driver, Carolina Fonseca-Elizalde, still inside her vehicle. Officers and paramedics confirmed that she was not injured. While the officers spoke to her, they detected the smell of alcohol and believed that she was intoxicated.

Officers said they attempted to conduct a DUI investigation, but Fonseca-Elizalde was unable to complete the field sobriety test, due to his level of impairment.

She had preliminary alcohol results nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She was arrested and transported to Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
