This year’s competition attracted over 650 nominations from 50 countries. Entries were evaluated on form, function and impact, and the winners were selected by a jury of architects, designers, landscape architects, product designers, faculty, d renowned publishers and photographers.

“It is always gratifying to be recognized for our work, especially when that recognition comes from knowledgeable industry professionals who might use or specify our products, as is the case with the LOOP Design Awards,” said Laura. Rygielski Preston, President of Trex Commercial. “We are extremely proud to have seen two of our products recognized for their innovation and performance. This recognition further strengthens our reputation for engineering the best products and solutions. “

Ascension® Glass Windshield – Reaching New Heights
Since its market introduction, the Trex Commercial Ascent Glass Windshield System has captured the attention of the commercial building industry for its innovative design and industry-leading performance. Ideal for rooftops, balconies and more, the system elevates any outdoor environment – from hospitality and high rise applications to healthcare and education facilities – providing style and safety with wind protection without previous and unobstructed views.

While most commercial windshield systems are able to withstand wind loads of 10 psf, Ascent is designed to eight times this amount, with a qualified wind load of 80 psf. This increased wind load allows installation at much higher elevations, such as balconies and roofs. At a standard height of 6 feet, Ascent offers extensive coverage for furniture and customers; however, the height of the product is fully customizable to suit the needs of each project.

Adding to its appeal, Ascent features quick-connect aluminum poles that allow for quick, safe and easy assembly. Unlike traditional glass windshields which require installers to lift large panes and slide them through the top of the post system, Ascent glass panels are installed from the front. This approach dramatically cuts installation time and helps keep projects on track and on budget.

Signature Trex® Guardrail – Sleek effortlessly and exceptionally strong
Versatility, ease and performance are the “hallmarks” of the new collection of ramps from Trex Commercial. Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, the Trex Signature Railing combines sophisticated design with the unmatched strength and ease of maintenance of aluminum. The minimalist style is understated and designed to optimize sight lines, making it ideal for stairs, balconies, patios, decks and public walkways.

The Trex Signature balustrade is available with three infill options: traditional pickets, tempered glass panels and stainless steel mesh. Sections can be installed with a continuously gripping rail and the structural integrity of the guardrail allows it to be curved for unique applications. The Trex Signature Guardrail is also easy to install and durable. The aluminum used to make the ramp is made from 50% recycled materials and is a 100% recyclable and renewable resource, which allows the product to contribute to LEED credit for recycled content.

These latest honors are in addition to a number of other industry awards and accolades Trex Commercial has won this year, including:

  • Prize of the Master of Architecture: Trex Signature Railing won an Honorable Mention in the “Building Envelope and Construction Materials” category for its sleek, minimalist look.
